Pensions and investments
Just as our mortgage advisers will keep your mortgage under review, we can refer you to experts who can provide a Healthcheck on any pensions or investments you may have. Recent law changes affect the way all pensions are paid but few people have the time and expertise to find out how they are affected. Reviewing the fund performance and the risks you are taking is crucial if you want to be on track for the financial future you would like.

Wills
As a property owner, if you want to be sure that your home and other assets go to the people you choose, you need to make a Will. The surprising fact is that around two thirds of adults simply never get round to it. We work with a national firm of lawyers who are able to help by providing an easy and convenient telephone based service so you won't need to put it off any longer.

What happens if I don't make a Will?

  • The law says who inherits your property and how much they get
  • Unmarried partners receive nothing
  • In England and Wales married partners receive your personal effects and motor cars (but no business assets) and the first £250,000 free of tax (£450,000 if there are no children). Your married partner receives a life interest in half of the residue which passes to your children on your partner's death.
  • The rest of your property will be inherited by your children. If you have no children, then your grandchildren. If no grandchildren, then your parents or brothers or sisters.
  • Your married partner will only inherit everything if there are no such other relatives
  • If you leave no married partner, children, grandchildren, parents or brothers and sisters, your estate will be inherited by your grandparents or aunts and uncles or by the State.
